Coronavirus Business Continuity Update

Update: April 10th, 2020
Selig Continues Supply - COVID-19 Update

We hope everyone continues to remain healthy and safe.  We continue to operate as an “Essential Business” in all locations.  We have taken actions to increase manufacturing capacity at all locations, including adding staff in response to increased demand.  Breaks in operations are only to maintain equipment, train employees, or implement processes, procedures or equipment that will allow for greater efficiency and increased protection from the Coronavirus.

We continue to meet on a daily basis, including weekends, to implement the latest prevention best practices without delay.  All employees, essential visitors and contractors are now being screened before entering our facilities.  The screening includes checking for elevated temperatures and a pre-visit questionnaire regarding past or current symptoms and contact with the contagion.  We believe these enhanced actions will allow us to continue to operate safely and ship product from each location.

We remain ready to serve customer needs.  Thank you for your commitment to Selig and for your efforts to combat the spread of the Coronavirus.  We will continue to send out updates as the situation warrants.

Selig Continues Supply - COVID-19 Update

Selig continues to operate and supply all products from each of our four global manufacturing locations.  As noted in prior communications, Selig is operating as an 'Essential Business' in each of these locations.

We continue to meet on a daily basis to share the latest information from global experts on the spread of and prevention of this viral infection.  Preventive measures of social distancing, hand hygiene, staggered shifts and breaks, enhanced cleaning of the facilities and screening of employees for COVID-19 symptoms as well as other practices continue as previosly reported.  We are now in our 3rd week of 'work from home' arrangements for all applicable employees.  We have restricted access to our production facilities to required personnel only in order to further enhance the safety of our facilities and workforce.  We believe these actions have allowed us to continue to operate as safely as possible and ship product with little to no impact from each location.

We remain ready to serve customer needs.  During the pandemic we plan to communicate with customers on a weekly basis, or more frequently, as the situation warrants.

Thank you for your continued trust in Selig.

Essential Supply COVID-19 Response - All Selig Locations

The Province of Ontario, Canada, (Selig Bradford), the U.K. Government (Selig Slough) and the Government of Switzerland (Selig Niederglatt) have now all announced orders that all non-essential businesses be shut down to help limit the spread of COVID-19. The last of these orders to take effect is the Ontario Government's announcement which is in force at midnight local time today, March 24th.

With these announcements and the prior announcement from the State of Illinois, USA (Selig Forrest), all locations where Selig operate are now subject to similar orders which include the temporary ceasing of operations of all but 'Essential Businesses'. Similar to what we have communicated for our Forrest, IL USA location, we acknowledge that many of our customers supply one or more of these critical industries: healthcare, pharmaceutical, food supply, sanitation/chemicals or transportation. As a supplier to these Essential Businesses, Selig is also an Essential Business and is continuing to operate as usual.

As noted in our communications of Friday, March 20th, and Saturday March 21st, we have expanded our preventive measures and continue to operate safely and ship product with little to no impact at this time from all Selig locations. All employees that can safely work from home have been doing so since the week of March 15th. We continue to stay abreast of the global COVID-19 situation and meet on a daily basis, including weekends, to share information between our 4 global locations, and remain ready to serve customer needs. If our ability to ship product changes, we will issue another communication as to the effect it may have.

Essential Supply During COVID-19 Response

The State of Illinois, location of our Forrest facility, has issued a ‘stay at home’ order (Executive Order 2020-10; IL-COVID-19 EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 8) effective at 5pm CDT today (March 21, 2020) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We acknowledge that many of our customers supply one or more of the critical industries noted in the Order such as healthcare, pharmaceutical, food supply, sanitation/chemicals or transportation. Therefore, as an Essential Business we continue to operate as usual and have issued ‘Employment Confirmation – Travel Authorization’ letters to all affected employees to allow for unimpeded travel to the Forrest facility.

As noted in our communication of Friday, March 20th, we have expanded our preventive measures and continue to operate safely and ship product with little to no impact at this time. We continue to stay abreast of the COVID-19 situation and meet on a daily basis, including weekends, to share information between our 4 global locations, and remain ready to serve customer needs.

Update: March 20th, 2020

At Selig, we continue to actively monitor developments regarding the spread of the novel coronavirus.  Our Global Response Team is meeting daily to make sure we are effective in protecting our employees and serving our customers.  These meetings are held seven days a week to assess the situation at each of our facilities and adjust plans accordingly.  Our preventive measures now include (but are not limited to):

  • Use of home offices for all non-production critical employees
  • Restriction of travel
  • Enhanced sanitation and cleaning procedures
  • Staggered shift starts for production employees
  • Strict social distancing
  • Prohibiting entry to Selig sites for those suffering from cold or flu-like symptoms
  • Prohibiting visitors without prior approval based on screening criteria
  • Self-quarantining for anyone who may have come in contact with a person suspected of COVID-19 infection

We are pleased to share that all facilities continue to operate safely and ship product with little to no impact.  This is a true testament of the resolve and dedication of the global Selig team.

These are unprecedented times. How COVID-19 will impact our lives will continue to evolve with the daily disclosure of new information.  We believe the actions we are taking will provide the highest level of safety possible in the current environment.  We want to assure you that the health and safety of our employees, communities, customers and consumers is the top focus of our organization.  We will continue to do everything we can to protect these stakeholders and to remain ready to serve our customer’s needs.

Thank you for your continued trust in Selig and for your patience and understanding during these challenging times.

COVID-19 Response Fuels E-Commerce Growth

Many products containing liquids are shipped in packaging that has not been designed for the rough distribution methods typical of e-commerce. Most have been designed for upright orientation, in multi-pack cartons and packed on pallets.

E-commerce and parcel delivery channels offer little protection against rough handling, pressure and temperature extremes, and can’t assure package orientation. If your packaging is not designed for e-commerce distribution, you risk your brand's reputation and consumer safety.

Induction Seals Provide Leak Protection

With induction sealed packages, every package is properly sealed. In fact the largest e-commerce services all recommend induction seals for liquid packaging.
